Nominations closing soon for the 2017 Philips Community Sports Dad of the Year Award!
Each Father's Day we celebrate sporting fathers in Australia, professional and amateur, who are great examples on and off the sporting field. Now you have a chance to recognise a local sports dad in your community to be crowned the 2017 Philips Community Sports Dad of the Year.
Whether it's a dad that coaches his local junior team, helps the local sports club with funding or support, or simply plays competitive sport on the weekend, now is the chance to highlight a father who's an inspiration to your local sports club and community.
Your nominated sports dad could be recognised amongst some of the biggest names in Australian sport who have been crowned the celebrity Philips Sports Dad of the Year. Previous finalists in the competition have included Socceroo legend Tim Cahill; AFL superstars Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge; NRL champions Cameron Smith and Johnathan Thurston; two-time Grand Slam tennis champion Lleyton Hewitt; captain of the all-conquering Kookaburras Mark Knowles and last years celebrity winner Australian cricket star, David Warner who went onto say "When I was a kid I was involved in my many sports at local Clubs. I played cricket, league, union and I enjoyed tennis and surfing as well. I was always on the move, without the many Dads and Mums support such as them driving me around to every game then my life as it is wouldn't have been possible".
To get involved and nominate your local Dad, people simply need to go to http://www.sportsdads.com.au/community and explain in 100 words or less why they think their chosen sports dad should be crowned the Community Sports Dad of the Year.
The Community Sports Dad of the Year winner will be provided with a $5,000 Rebel Sports voucher to donate to his sporting club of choice for some new gear or sporting equipment.
